American Native Speaker is run by Andre in Katowice, Poland.

Andre was born in the United States and grew up in Carlsbad, California, a town in northern San Diego County. There he went to high school and then to the University of California, San Diego, where he studied Linguistics and Political Science. During his studies he also learned Spanish and spent one year in Barcelona, Spain as part of an exchange program.

In Summer 2004, he moved to Poland where he took part in the one-month SIT-TESOL certification program and became qualified to teach English to speakers of other languages. After this, he taught one month in Czestochowa and moved to Katowice for the regular school year. At the same time, he became involved in Framingham State College’s Masters in Education program that hosted a program in Katowice, Poland. He graduated from the program in 2006 with a Masters of Education in International Teaching.

Will Andre continue to live in Poland? Probably yes! He has a wonderful wife, a cute little dog and a baby on the way. Although life isn’t luxurious in Poland, it’s comfortable and Andre’s not afraid of hard work. In the end, Andre can always go back to the United States whenever he’d like, for a visit or to stay.
