Lektor Daniel Pugsley (Kraków) język: English
Personal Information
I am 24 years old, from Barnsley in Yorkshire (northern England). I moved to Krakow on 20th August and I live with my Polish girlfriend who is also an English and Italian teacher. I have been a teacher ever since I left university, I started doing it because I taught first year law students how to present arguments in court when I was in my 3rd year at university, and I liked it. I also wanted to live in Italy and learn Italian, so teaching English was the logical move. Teaching has allowed me to travel all over Asia, learn Italian and now it has brought me to Krakow. I have a job in a school here in the weekday evenings, but I want to supplement my income with private lessons like most native speakers seem to do here. The difference with me is I actually like teaching and I have put literally hundreds of students through their Trinity, IELTS, First Cert and other exams with well over a 99% pass rate.
I graduated with a law degree from Sheffield Hallam University in 2008, and completed a Trinity College Cambridge Certificate in TESOL from the same university immediately after.
I have been teaching ever since, I taught in Barletta (south Italy) in state schools and in private schools, both classes and 1-1, adults and kids, all levels. I taught in Kanazawa (western Japan) in a private school for kids and giving private individual classes in the local supermarket coffee shop. I then moved back to Barletta and became the Director of Studies in my old school, mostly teaching but also helping the other teachers to improve their skills by setting up observations and feedback session between them and giving them ideas and advice on planning lessons and making them more entertaining. I also reorganised the way the admin was being done such as redesigning the lesson report sheets to include more relevant information, and wrote a new contract for the teachers.
I am a Rugby player (18 years), Muay Thai fighter and I also snowboard, play football and go to the gym. I like reading books and newsapers, I play chess and I like all sorts of different music. I have travelled a lot and I like learning languages, although I only really speak Italian regularly. I am a friendly, easygoing sort, and I get on very well with kids.
