Personal Information
Hi!
I am a Polish-American student ready and committed to offer English lessons to anyone seeking to learn or ameliorate his/her English. Born to Polish parents, but raised and educated in Chicago and the suburbs, I am fluent in both Polish and English. I have spent most of my life in the U.S. and feel very comfortable in working with people of any age or English level in any kind of subject. If you are seeking help with coursework, proofreading, reports, projects or just simple English conversations for business, academic or social purposes, I am more than happy to offer my services. As an experienced writer, I can additionally help with grammar, writing, pronounciation and preparation for interviews or conferences.
Please feel free to contact me via e-mail!
Throughout school, I've always helped out fellow colleagues, even to this day. As early as 2006, I volunteered to teach English to Polish employees at the Sheraton Hotel and later went on to teach IGSCE Mathematics in English during my university years. For two years, I prepared the student for his IGSCE exams, a task which was by no means a walk in the park, considering he needed to transform all of his thinking in mathematics to English. In the end, however, I managed to pull this D/F student to achieve A's and B's (the Polish equivalent of going from a "pała" and 2's to 4's and 5's). I may not be a qualified teacher, but I like to think that this student proved I am capable of achieving results with a bit of hard work and determination.
As a result of my innate tendency to be a so-called "grammar-nazi", I used to write for the school newspaper at the British School and also went on to intern for the Warsaw Insider, a recreational magazine in Poland for foreigners. In addition, I have undertaken various translation projects and was recently chosen to participate in editting an English academic publication at my university.
Like any normal human being, I love to relax, most notably through spending time with friends and family, reading the ocassional crime novel or watching one of my favorite TV shows. I am generally interested in so many things it would be ridiculous to name them all, but in a nutshell, my interests include learning foreign languages, debating about politics and current events, cooking, painting and fashion, like any typical girl. I find joy in teaching and helping others and always try my best to do so. I cannot imagine a life of solitude and absolutely love working with people and sharing ideas.
